Safe Christmas

I know I don’t have to say this but please have a safe Christmas this year.
This time of year is usually when we catch up with family and friends, there’s a buzz about the festive season no matter if you celebrate it or not.
But that buzz can quickly change if you or someone close to you gets hurt.

I watched the news the other night and saw that there was a car accident where a young mum was killed and her son seriously injured and straight away I thought "What sort of Christmas will this family now have."

I can remember the first Christmas after my accident, a time that we all normally laughed and joked with each other was replaced with "Making sure that James can get around in his wheelchair."

So take a bit of extra time at work to make sure what you are doing is safe, drive safely if you are on the road at Christmas, keep an eye on your kids near water and please STAY off your Fkn mobile phone while in the car!

On that note, I'd like to wish you all a happy and safe Christmas from all of us at CNBSafe. We look forward to working with you in 2020 to make sure that everyone goes home at the end of the day.

James, Vanessa, Bek and the CNBSafe team.

Ok so while we are on the Christmas theme, what are you getting for Christmas?

And what are you buying for others?

I’m not a safety nerd, I believe that we can do whatever we want to do as long as we do it safely.
However I do think a little more about the gifts that I give and who I give them to.
I remember one year when I bought my boys new motorbikes. They were an upgrade from their old bike. They jumped on them on Christmas day and tried to ride them like their old bike…They both nearly fell off.

So if you are giving someone a gift just have a think about how they might use it.

Just a quick update on what we are all doing and where we are at....
Woody

Still can’t walk, but happily sharing his story with workplaces to stop others from getting hurt by making wrong CHOICES.

Alan

Right arm has not grown back, probably never will.
So he too wants to show how what happened to him could have been prevented.

Currently preparing the Australian Steelers for next year's Paralympics in Tokyo, but in his spare time showing others how FATIGUE changed his life.
Anton

S
hares his message of how ABC nearly took his life...Attitude, Behaviour and Culture.
Is also following his passion for management training and teaching people to speak in public.

Rohan

Wants more people to listen to his story of how poor communication caused his life altering injury, whilst raising two beautiful girls at the same time.

Makes time for himself and his body to energise, and then visits workplaces to talk about stress and how it led to him to almost lose his life.

Michelle

Still visits her son Alex’s resting place every day and makes time to share her story of how losing her son to a workplace incident irreversibly changed every part of her existence.

For the petrol heads among us I thought I’d give you an update on my old HG.

So I gave her a good old clean out a few weeks ago. From what I can tell she’s pretty original, I believe it has the factory carpet (it’s in pretty bad shape). It has some rust in the spare wheel well and in one of the rear quarter panels but none in the subframes or floor (Bonus).

Modifications so far, I have fitted a set of lowered springs all around and some new shock absorbers. New suspension rubbers and bushes with a wheel alignment. Just this week I had a new exhaust system made up including a set of extractors I had lying in my shed. She sounds superb at about 3500RPM.

I’ll have a bit of a play with her over the break, I need to flush the radiator and fit an aftermarket oil pressure and temperature gauge.
Still unsure whether to stick with the 186 or to upgrade to a V8?
For some reason I have a real affection for a holden 6 red motor….
But I’d like to hear your thoughts?
