This time last month I was sitting on a plane just coming back from a job in WA, everything was cruisy, I was looking forward to going for a drive in my old HG and having a BBQ and a few beers with family and friends.
There was a couple of news articles about this Virus that was in China and a few people were crook, but nothing much to worry about.
Fast forward a month and the world has turned to shit, we have lockdowns, self isolation, social distancing, panic buying and even our local Pub has closed!
I know I’m being a little flippant here but it just goes to show how things can be perfectly "Normal" one day and absolutely batshit crazy the next.
So I need to ask you a favour, as much as this is consuming our everyday lives you need to make sure you don’t get hurt.
Because Getting Hurt will change it even more
My business is focusing on the ways that we can continue to provide safety information to the workplaces that ARE still able to operate.
If nothing else the rest of the Safety Speakers and I might be able to distract your workers for a period of time while all this crazy shit is happening.
How Can We Help YOU!
Ok... we are fortunate to have been sharing Safety Information with workplaces for over 20 years.
Over this time we have created different ways to show your people how an injury will change their lives.
Here are a few of the things we have done… However we are open to working with you in ANY way to keep the focus on SAFETY at your
workplace.
We already have James’ story on DVD/USB or in electronic format ready to go.
A fully self contained training module that can be run by you at your workplace.
Everything you need to deliver a strong safety message
Run it individually or in small groups
Can be completed in under 60 minutes
We have slashed the price to more than 70% off of this to help you continue to be able to share this with your workplace. Learn more and order online here
I have over 80 short YouTube/Vimeo clips all with a safety theme or messages. These are ABSOLUTELY FREE OF CHARGEand you can show them at toolbox talks or safety meetings, have a look HERE
Over the years I have been asked to do personalised safety videos for some companies.
This can be a simple message with your current Safety Theme or Focus or it can be a full induction package with me dressed in your branding and uniform.
Call or email me to discuss this how we can tailor this to your business.
We will be contacting many of you personally over the next few weeks to see how we work with you to make sure your teams stay safe.
What will you do?
So I have no idea what is going to happen over the next few days/weeks/months... however we have spent some time planning.
We have been working hard to still be able to deliver safety information in different ways as shared above.
We have also looked at ways we may have to change our business, and
things we can do to plan for the future.
But we have also planned for other scenarios, we have some jigsaw puzzles, some board games and some paint by numbers and books while we isolate ourselves.
We have enough food for a couple of weeks and NO we did not panic buy or hoard, we normally have this much
food in the house.
We have a Netflix and Spotify account for movies and music and we have other coping mechanisms in place.
Have you done anything?
Switch off
Hey this one comes from one of our speakers and my good mateMichael Weston.
How about you switch off the TV, turn off the radio and stop listening to all the doom and gloom that comes from the media.
If you are constantly being bombarded by all of these negative messages then some of it will soak in.
Go for a walk around your garden, watch a bird or a butterfly or an Ant and just see what it does and where it goes.
Listen to some silence, look up at the sky, go out to your shed and look at a
favourite car or bike or ANYTHING just to calm down and relax and have a break from this madness.
Hopefully by next month we will be in a much better place and I’ll have a bit more upbeat newsletter for you all.
But until then look after yourself, watch out for your friends and family and most of all Stay at home and Stay Safe Australia.
I sent a message to the other Safety Speakers late last year and asked them to give me a statement or a sentence about what they enjoy about sharing their stories.
