January 2021

Here we go again. I don’t know whether it’s the politicians handling this crisis or the Dickhe#ds not taking it seriously enough but we seem to be having COVID outbreaks in different states.

Maybe I’m naive but I don’t see the urgency to resume travel?
Okay, I know some industries and businesses need travel to continue operating, (mine included) but can’t we just all bite the bullet and knuckle down for as long as it takes to get rid of this shit!

I’m a Victorian and we had a hard lockdown, so why can’t the other states do the same until they get it under control?
It was tough….. Suck it up princes and princesses!

Oh and you idiots at beach parties and disregarding social distancing, you are wankers and spoiling it for the rest of us.

Don’t get me started on the tennis and other sports.

WTF is this going ahead and how good are the tanties that these highly paid sports stars throw because they are locked up for 14 days?

Celebrities seem to be okay though, they can bypass quarantine and go straight to Byron Bay.

Pete Evans…… Bahahaha…..Tosser!

COVID has jaded me. I used to try and see all sides of a situation but now I just look at the selfish pricks that spoil it for me and my future.

Max” will take on key responsibilities incorporated within the “Wellness Specialist” role such as the following:

  • Office Space Coordinator
  • Break Planner & Scheduler
  • Anxiety Detector
  • Remuneration Officer (love & Cuddles)
  • Weather Detection Assistant

Jokes aside, our hearts have been left with a void since our 14-year-old Labradoodle “Hogan” passed away late last year and many family discussions have been had around having another fur baby.

This time we have decided to have a very small fur baby compared to our beloved Hogan the Labradoodle.

Max” is a Maltese x Shih Tzu x Schnoodle. Yes, it’s a mouthful isn’t it!

I’m going right out of my comfort zone here and will call the breed a “Maltshitinoodle”…your welcome!

Max comes home in 4 weeks and no doubt will be a little bigger than what you see below.

Okay so I’m going to ask you to put yourself in my situation for this one. I use a wheelchair and I can’t stand up, even for a minute or less.

That has not stopped me living a full life for the last 30 plus years since I got hurt.
I’ve competed in sport.
I’ve travelled all over the world.
I have never been unemployed, I have rebuilt engines and single handedly replaced them in my old Holdens.
I’ve even bummed my way up some steps to sit on the great wall of China.

So how do you think I would feel if someone said to me,

“You can’t come to our site because our management team
have decided it is not accessible for you.”

F#$K right off!!!!

Who are you to decide what me or anyone is capable of?
And especially without any consultation whatsoever!
You don’t know what I am capable of and more importantly you did not even ask if I thought I could cope with it.

Big lesson here people.

DO NOT assume what others can and cannot do. Ask them if they think they can do something, or even better ask them what you can do to assist them to achieve what you would like them to do for you.

I think I can rightly say that this really pissed me off!

Vale Will…

I lost a friend this month.

I’d never met him in person, but we worked together on line for long enough to consider him a mate. He had a quirky sense of humour and a sharp wit. He read books and was lucky enough to run a business with his family. Much like me.

I’ll miss him…. Even though I never met him.

Santa brought us a couple of sit on kayaks for Christmas.

My daughter Annie is 9.

So we decided to get her comfortable on the kayak in our swimming pool.

Initially we let her sit on it and paddle up and down the pool but after a while I explained to her that she needs to be able to get back on the kayak if she falls off it in the water.

To cut a long story short, we had her jump off the kayak and get back in, flip the kayak over and try to get it upright again and retrieve a lost paddle.

All skills that she might (hopefully) never have to use but will have if she ever needs them.

Never too early to start teaching life skills

Mental Health, Workaholic, words we have all heard before, but we dismiss them as not something that relates to us. Michael Weston helps to dispel that myth in a candid account of his life’s journey, laced with both humour and his now philosophical approach to life. Michael helps to remove the stigma that is mental health and makes you realise it can happen and will happen if you fall into the trap of all work and no play. His story shows even through adversity he has come out the other side a stronger individual with the loving support of his family and at the same time continuing to face the demons of mental health head on. A true inspiration.

James’ story is a powerful one and puts into perspective how making wrong choices at work can result in devastation. No one is infallible and safety in workplace or at home, must be front of mind.
The response from staff was extremely positive and his message is something that they can take away and refer to in times when they too are faced with their own choices in life!
